The History of Etheria

A long, long time ago in a gala--- wait, wrong series.

A long time ago, there were two planets, Eternia and Etheria. Both were endowed with magic. While Eternia progressed and combined both magic and science, Etheria stayed a mostly magical world, with forests that would disorient those who didn't belong, and places of evil from the most ancient times.

Because Etheria was mostly filled with simple farmers and peasants without the great technological revolution that Eternia had had, it fell prey to the Evil Horde, who sought to enslave the people and mine the planet dry. Eternia was able to stave off the Horde's attack, but Hordak and his cronies brought back from Eternia its newborn princess, Adora.

Throughout the next twenty years, the Horde continued to enslave the people of Etheria with judicious use of their Horde Troopers, ShadowWeaver's spells, and the warriors that Hordak used as lieutenants. He and ShadowWeaver raised Adora in the Fright Zone to join the Horde, carefully making sure she never saw what the Horde was doing to the planet. Meanwhile, Angella, Queen of Bright Moon, lost her kingdom to the Horde, her castle taken over by Hordak and company. Her daughter Glimmer escaped into the Whispering Woods and joined up with Bow to lead the Rebellion against the Horde.

One day, a stranger from another world came to Etheria, bearing a sword with a jewel in its handle. His name was Adam, he was looking for the owner of the Sword of Protection, and he managed to run across Bow. Some Horde Troopers came to rough up the peasants of the town they met in, and the two men fought back. They managed to make it back to the Whispering Woods, where Adam was introduced to Glimmer. From her, they found out that the townspeople were being enslaved because of their standing up to the Horde. The Rebellion sent many people to fight the Horde, but it was a hopeless cause, until another stranger entered the battle: He-Man! With BattleCat by his side, the day turned for the Rebellion, and all was nearly won. He-Man took on the leader of the attack, Force Captain Adora, drawing the Sword of Protection. It started glowing, and He-Man realized that this woman fighting him was the one he was sent to Etheria to find. His distraction proved to be the key to battle as Adora captured him and bustled him off to Beast Island.

It was up to the Rebels to save their new friend, so they had Madame Razz conjure a flying ship to convey them to Beast Island. There, they made a diversion while Kowl flew in and freed He-Man from his prison. They all escaped Beast Island and returned to the Whispering Woods. He-Man slipped away and changed back to Adam, and made an excuse to go to the Fright Zone. He /had/ to see Adora, even though he had no idea who she was. He dressed up as a Horde Trooper, but Adora caught him and had him put into Hordak's latest toy, the MagnaBeam.

Confiscating both the Swords He-Man possessed, Adora listened to him long enough for him to convince her to think about visiting Etheria and seeing what the Horde's really like. She took the Sword of Protection and challenged Hordak to disprove He-Man's allegations, but ShadowWeaver enchanted her to sleep and forget. He-Man, on the other hand, was having his lifeforce drained by the MagnaBeam, which, when fully powered, would fire a beam of energy at the Whispering Woods and teleport it into the Valley of the Lost forever!

Adora's enchanted sleep was disturbed after night fell. A voice seemed to be calling her name. She awoke and dressed, drawn by something deep inside her to the prison where He-Man was being drained of his strength. There, she saw him resisting the power of the MagnaBeam. However, she went to the two Swords, stuck side by side in a block of stone. The one with the jewel in the handle was glowing. A face appeared in the jewel, and the voice told her of her true heritage, that of a princess of Eternia, and urged her to aid He-Man, who was revealed to be her brother. Adora picked up the Sword of Protection and murmured the last thing the Sorceress told her over and over, until she was gripped by the power within the Sword. She held the Sword high and cried,

"For the Honor of Greyskull!
I am She-Ra!"

Magic poured over She-Ra, clothing her in a new costume and giving her power the like of which she'd never felt before. Her first act as She-Ra was to free He-Man from the MagnaBeam. He was still terribly weak, but he was still able to take on Hordak when he burst in on them. He sent She-Ra off to warn the Rebellion in Whispering Woods. She raced to Adora's steed Spirit, who was transformed into the winged unicorn Swift Wind. Together, they raced toward the Whispering Woods. He-Man smashed the MagnaBeam, freeing up all the power it had stolen from various Horde prisoners, but not in time to stop Hordak from firing one shot. She-Ra saw the danger and heaved a nice bit fat rock up into the sky to take the shot. Then, she and Swift Wind turned back to rescue He-Man, revealing to him who she was.

Adam and Adora returned to the Rebellion, and they told Glimmer, Bow, and the others that they were brother and sister. They went to Eternia to visit their parents, but eventually, they returned to aid the Rebellion free the Kingdom of Bright Moon from the Horde. With that, Adam returned to Eternia, and Adora stayed on Etheria.

Shortly after the victory, Adora went searching for the Crystal Castle, and found it atop Skydancer Mountain. She discovered Light Hope, the keeper of the Castle, and let the news be filtered back to the Rebellion that she'd found their Hope.

Since then, the Rebellion has steadily been gaining ground against the Evil Horde, striking back and getting more and more people to rise up and fight for their freedom. He-Man has come to visit once or twice, and Adora got herself a man she loved, the Sea Hawk (which isn't making Bow's day any, nope :). Things are looking up for both Adora and the Rebellion!
